Bob Hayes is the Executive Director of the CSO Security Executive Council, a cross-industry professional organization of Chief Security Officers and Chief Information Security Officers (CSOs / CISOs) devoted to advancing strategic security practices and solutions and founded by IDG’s CSO magazine.

He also serves as CSO of CXO Media Inc. and its parent company, International Data Group (IDG). Hayes has more than 25 years of experience developing security programs and providing security services. Prior to joining CXO Media/IDG, Hayes spent eight years as the CSO at Georgia Pacific, and nine years as security operations manager at 3M.

Hayes’s experience and position in the security community uniquely qualifies him to lead, manage and continuously evolve the CSO Security Executive Council. Hayes is responsible for program vision, identification of member needs, selection of Emeritus and Expert Faculty and the creation and execution of programs and tools to help CSOs and CISOs effectively lead and manage the security function at their organizations.

Hayes was also the first recipient of the "GSO 2010 Security Leadership Award" in 2007.
